Justin Shonga hoping to present Orlando Pirates fans a present against Highlands Park Posted: 4 January 2019 Time: 10:30 Print this article Orlando Pirates forward Justin Shonga has stressed the importance of starting the new year off on a high and hopes to gift their supporters a present against Highlands Park. Pirates are set to restart their campaign with a visit to the Lions of the North in a second round Absa Premiership fixture at the Makhulong Stadium on Saturday evening. READ: Pirates deserve a trophy - Shonga The Buccaneers currently trail log leaders Bidvest Wits by three points and will be eager to keep up the pace in order to also maintain the distance between themselves and the chasing pack. Having failed to beat Highlands in their opening league encounter back in August, Shonga is under no illusion of the test that lies ahead but is confident they can come out on top this time. “We need to start on a good note this year so that it would even show that we are hungry for more. We have to win,” Shonga tells KickOff.com . “But we know it’s not going to be easy, we’re not playing at home, we’re playing away. In the first leg that we met Highlands, we ended up with a draw, so they are going to come at us, and we’ll go at them as well. “We know they are going to come at us like nobody’s business and they won’t give us any chances, but we have to trust in our tactics and game model and understand that it’s not going to be easy. ALSO REAS: Analysing Bucs' transfer requirements “Before each and every game we analyse our opponents, so we know their strengths and weaknesses just as they also know ours,” he outlines. “I think on Saturday we just want to go and impose our game, get the three points and the first victory for our supporters, and give them a present for the new year. “We can then keep going and build on that momentum, because we have many games ahead.” Pirates have six scheduled fixtures in January, including two CAF Champions League assignments away to FC Platinum (Zimbabwe) and at home to Horoya (Guinea).
